Model Screening Tool and Guidance for Instructional Materials Review Teams


This is version 1.2 of the updated Washington Models for the Evaluation of Bias Content in Instructional Materials (2009).

To create this refreshed document, renamed Screening for Biased Content in Instructional Materials, we drew upon a wide variety of existing resources, collaborators throughout Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) departments, and expert district and educational service district partners. See Reference section of the attached document for details.

OSPI is releasing this model tool for screening for biased content to Washington districts in the hope that it will provide suggestions and examples for the instructional materials selection and adoption process.
