The goal of this project is to create and provide access to a comprehensive, high-quality open educational resource (OER) for a course in Instructional Design and Assessment to increase equity, empower teachers and students, and transform teaching and learning practices. The OER textbook will share evidence-based best practices of classroom instruction and assessment and incorporate findings from text-based research as well as beliefs, practices, and recommendations of preservice and practicing teachers along with teacher educators. Videos of classroom instruction, lesson planning, infographics, case studies, digital learning tools and apps, and simulations will enhance the written component of the OER text as a method to support competency-based education. Pressbooks offers a professional and streamlined format that makes it the ideal tool for this OER. Additionally, we will create supplemental teaching materials for use with the text, such as questions for discussion or suggested formative and summative assessments.
