The trifecta of globalization, urbanization and digitization have created new opportunities and challenges across our nation, cities, boroughs and urban centers. Cities are in a unique position at the center of commerce and technology becoming hubs for innovation and practical application of emerging technology. In this rapidly changing 24/7 digitized world, city governments worldwide are leveraging innovation and technology to become more effective, efficient, transparent and to be able to better plan for and anticipate the needs of its citizens, businesses and community organizations. This class will provide the framework for how cities and communities can become smarter and more accessible with technology and more connected.

A collection of video, audio, essays, ebooks, and pictures associated with the long Old English heroic poem known to modern audiences as Beowulf. This poem is probably the most famous product of the rich literary tradition of Anglo-Saxon England (which flourished in the period c. 650-1100). The poem tells the story of Beowulf, a heroic warrior, and later king, of the Geats (a possibly mythical Scandinavian tribe). The events of the poem are set during the Germanic 'heroic age' - a period stretching from the fourth to the sixth century by modern reckoning but described by the poet simply as geardagas ('days of old').

Dr. Miller narrates a screen capture sequence of creating a binaural beat audio track using an online frequency generator, and adding a musical bed track in Audacity. Output file is exported as an MP3.

Chansons features a French or Francophone song, related to each chapter's cultural or pedagogical focus, presented via audio or video. Accompanying pdfs provide additional information, as well as comprehension exercises. Songs act as a portal to various Francophone cultures and musical genres. Aural comprehension and study of lyrics afford students practice with culturally authentic text and expression. Students discover yet another reason to be passionate about studying French!

This presentation is about the Silk Road Market, one of the largest cases of illegal drug activity on the dark web, that the federal government has prosecuted. Beyond discussing the case, the presentation adds general facts about the US Department of Justice, the FBI and the DEA, and federal sentencing. The case discussion includes information about: Ross Ulbricht the creator and head of the market; how the Silk Road operated; the involvement of the FBI and DEA; the trial; the fourth amendment violations alleged by the defense; and the sentencing.

The dark reactions of photosynthesis (Calvin Cycle) are presented in this learning experience to show where these processes take place in the plant as well as the specific reactions involved.
